Clothing Folds & Hair Tutorial for Aethubryn.
Folds and hair follow the laws of physics (such as gravity) and will shape themselves to follow whatever surface they lie on. However, to add move variety, folds will ‘loop’ on each other, and hair will clump together to form ‘locks’.
What I notice in your drawing is that the hair locks are all the same width. This looks unnatural. There are very few evenly spaced patterns in nature. Its a good way to get a mechanical effect, but it sucks the life from a drawing. Vary the shape, size, and spacing of fold loops and hair locks to get a more natural, lively, look.
